Dried Pushkar damask rose petals

Rosa damascena

Pushkar Rose

Pushkar, Rajasthan · Kannauj, UP · Haldighati

Damask roses from Pushkar's alkaline desert soil — the same conditions that make Bulgarian and Turkish roses command six thousand dollars per kilogram for their oil. Hand-picked before dawn during the eight-week harvest between February and April. Shadow-dried to preserve the volatile oils that sun-drying would destroy.
